Shawn P. Ryan

Shawn photoShawn’s twenty-plus years as a lawyer have primarily focused on bankruptcy/debtor-creditor/insolvency issues, solving financial problems for debtors and creditors, primarily working for debtors.

Shawn received a bachelor degree in English and a bachelor degree in political science from Washington State University, cum laude and with Honors in 1986, received his J.D. in 1989 from the University of Puget Sound, magna cum laude, and was an Associate Editor of the Law Review.  He is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  He interned with Chief Bankruptcy Judge Sidney C. Volinn of the Western District of Washington and was a teaching assistant for Washington Supreme Court Justice Robert F. Utter.  Mr. Ryan is a licensed attorney in state and federal courts in Oregon and Washington and is an active member of both bars.  He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Shawn has been retained as an expert witness in legal malpractice cases involving bankruptcy.

Outside of work, Shawn enjoys spending time with his wife, Charlene, and would rather be outdoors in the wilderness, backpacking, climbing, and hunting.

Lynette Harshbarger

Lynette has worked with Shawn as a legal assistant for 19 years. She started working with Shawn in 1992 at a well-known Portland law firm, then joined Shawn to start his solo practice in 1996. Lynette assists is all areas of the practice, including providing procedural expertise and support for all facets of complex personal and business bankruptcy issues, as well as litigation support in adversary proceedings and contested matters.  She also works closely with clients, trustees, creditors, and court staff.

Lynette is a long-time resident of the Portland area but was born and raised in Eastern Washington.  In 1988 she earned her A.A.S. degree in Business and Management Legal Administration and Paralegal Studies and immediately began her career in the legal field.  Her background includes multiple areas of law; however, her focus has  primarily been in the area of bankruptcy/debtor-creditor/insolvency issues over the last 19 years.

In her time away from the office Lynette enjoys being a wife and mother to her two beautiful daughters and is actively involved in her community.
